THE PLAY

The tale of the AENEID is more than a little reminiscent of Homer’s ILIAD and ODYSSEY. It tells the story of the adventures of Aeneas, a Trojan survivor who flees the city in flames in the aftermath of the genocide of his people. A journey of several years takes him to one shore of the Mediterranean and on to another, from Carthage to the underworld, all the way to Italy, where he finally founds a prosperous city. In Carthage, Aeneas meets Dido, a queen in exile.

Originally trained as an actor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique in Paris, Frédéric Constant has anchored his work as a director in the Centre Region, where he founded his company, LES AFFINITES ELECTIVES in 1997. Their first production TITANIC CITY laid the foundations of a collective work they still continue to do today. Distancing itself from Virgil’s work, ENEAS, NEUF will be a kind of “Road Theatre” in which roaming, fixed fights, the impossibility to return, the weight of duty, will find contemporary resonances.
It will mark the return of Rémi De Vos, this time as an actor, in this show produced in residence at CDN Orléans/Loiret/Centre.
