THE PLAY
David Lescot welcomes us to a cabaret of memories: alone on stage, accompanied by a Czechoslovakian electric guitar from the 1960s, he tells of his past summers spent in Commission Centrale de l’Enfance (CCE) summer camps, an association founded by French, communist Jews after WWII to cater to orphans, and sons and daughters of the deported. With humor and sensibility, he recounts the commitment, utopias and generosity of those who founded and breathed life into these networks, which remained active until the end of the 1980s.
David Lescot tries to mix theatre with non dramatic forms, in particular music, through his writing and stage work. He has directed his own scripts at CDN Reims (UN HOMME EN FAILLITE in 2007), or the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris (L’AMELIORATION in 2004). David Lescot was awarded the Molière award for Best Newcomer in 2009 for LA COMMISSION CENTRALE DE L’ENFANCE.
This production is presented at CDN Orléans/Loiret/Centre in partnership with CERCIL, a centre dedicated to the memory and story of the thousands of Jews deported from the Loiret camps, and in particular of the 4000 children of the Vél d’Hiv roundup.
