ANNIE ERNAUX
LES ANNÉES

WED 18 NOV 2009 7:00pm

Published in 2008, les annees sweeps across sixty years of a French life. Annie Ernaux recounts her itinerary as a woman through the memories left behind by time, those that make up our common memory: memorable films, commercial jingles, dressing fads, May 68, family meals, the rise of the Internet… Both historical and personal, this magnificent narration is her way to “salvage something of the time when we are gone”.

NOS OCCUPATIONS

THU 10 MAR 2010 7:00pm

A play written like a musical score, a ballet for actors and voices, nos occupations is a tale of the Resistance, of a network seen from an insider’s viewpoint: how we meet, how we cipher and decipher messages, how we cover everything, from an envelope to an emotion.
And thus how, out of necessity, at the risk of death, we build ourselves a mask, which ensures our survival.

FRANCIS PONGE
LA TENTATIVE ORALE

WED 12 MAY 2010 7:00pm

For the first time, Francis Ponge had accepted an offer to do a lecture. He, who had always had a profound dislike for oral expression, who had even suffered from aphasia a few times, had thus decided to speak, to come out, as one would carry out an experiment. It became la tentative orale, a lecture given on January 22, 1947 in Brussels. Giving himself absolutely over to the fever of this one-of-a-kind, oral attempt, he turned his lecture into a poetic manifesto.
