Écrivain, ancienne élève de l’École Normale Supérieure. TRUISMES, NAISSANCE DES FANTÔMES, LE MAL DE MER, PRÉCISIONS SUR LES VAGUES, BREF SÉJOUR CHEZ LES VIVANTS, LE BÉBÉ, WHITE, LE PAYS, ZOO, TOM EST MORT sont tous publiés aux éditions P.O.L. CLAIRE DANS LA FORÊT (2004) est publié aux Éditions Des Femmes.

Elle écrit pour des artistes comme Annette Messager, Louise Bourgeois ou Jürgen Teller. Elle est aussi psychanalyste. La traduction d'ORDET (LA PAROLE), est son premier travail pour le théâtre.

Son roman TOM EST MORT a fait l’objet d’une lecture dirigée par Arthur Nauzyciel au Festival d’Avignon 2007. Elle a écrit pour lui sa première pièce, LE MUSÉE DE LA MER.

En 2010, elle publie aux éditions P.O.L un essai, RAPPORT DE POLICE - Accusations de plagiat et autres modes de surveillance de la fiction.

Depuis juin 2007, Marie Darrieussecq est écrivain associé au CDN Orléans/Loiret/Centre.
